Crazy Patch and Wool Lotus Purse

Crazy Patch and Wool Lotus Purse

Okay well the summer is passing quickly and I have about 10 purses to line or sew together.  Much to be done.  These are two of the ones I need to finish up.

Basketwoven purse
I went to the local arts and crafts festival and there was tons of fiber related arts.  Joelle’s Dolls http://www.joellesdolls.com/ was there, and this lady who uses soy paste to and indigo to dye fabrics and a woman who knits gorgeous soft and delicate shawls with tiny bamboo yarn.  There were also some art quilt artists.  Unfortunately I forgot the camera, and I have been so busy knitting baby sweaters for my friend who is having triplets I have been a little sidetracked.  I cannot believe the summer is nearly over, I haven’t had a chance to do half the stuff I wanted too.

Family Room

Family Room

I decided to redecorate the family room and my studio and to redecorate my bedroom.  MY family room was an acid green with lavendar curtains, which I never really like the color scheme so I toned down the green with the inside of a lime green and RIT dyed my lavendar curtains VIOLET.  I also put in a desk/table for the sewing machine, so it would be on the dining room table all the time and reorganized (and painted the bare dry wall) of my crafts closet.  Really pretty.  I have to admit that the hubby didn’t want it to be the same color as the kitchen, which it kind of is but I just knew what it needed and so to compromise I painted all of the big accents (cellar door, closet door and my aforementioned crafts (walk-in) closet a dark and rich green.  The same color but a different finish from the green I painted the trim in the bedroom. The orange is just an accent color.   With Corey and Michelle’s help I hung jute shades and removed the ugly and unpractical curtains.  Even with my spatial intelligence I could not figure out the shade brackets so Corey and Michelle came over to help, since they had already dealt with the lousy directions in their own house and had already figured it out.  I already owe Corey pie for him splitting my wood, so I guess I will have to get out my apron on for the shades too.

Cotton Anchor purse

So my Mom is visiting and we went to Patchwork Plus yesterday.  I purchased three skeins of a silk and viscose yarn, two are wheat colored and the third a lovely creamy color, for making another purse.  They were on discount and I got the skeins quite inexpensively.  I also purchased some fabric for a lime green and navy crazy quilted purse and this wonderful anchor fabric for lining the sailor purse.  My daughter, whom Michelle says should be our style consultant in all matters, thinks we should be able to sell this purse easily, in fact that I will have to hide it from her.  The hubby is in Burlington and promises to find some interesting yarn to bring home too.  Can’t wait to see what he has chosen!!
