Leaf for Fiber Tree
This leaf was designed by one of my students and will be sent to Jennifer Marsh coordinator of the International Fiber Collaborative Tree project. I had about 1/4 of my students make a leaf and then I had to pick one to recreate for this project. It was a difficult decision but this leaf seemed most likely to translate well into fabric, thread and beads. Congratulations to the winner. The young lady who did this leaf will be really surprised and pleased.
Creativity and Play and the Importance of These Activities in Life February 20, 2009

I tried to upload this video about creativity and play but my computer is on slow broadband so it was taking too long. Towards the end it talks about kids and creativity in school and in life. It is a long video but well worth the time spent watching it. It is very much about the importance of play and creativity in the workplace as well.
Two Posts February 8, 2009
I wanted to move two posts from my Breezy Day Handbags blog to this post because they just didn’t seem to belong in that particular place.
This first image is of an antique crazy quilted patch I purchased at the Salt City Antiques Show a couple weeks ago.

This second image is of a fair isle skirt that I designed myself and while wearing it at Mission Rose Quiltery and Knittery, I was hired on the spot to teach knitting at that store, and work part time.

Tree Project
Last year I had my third grader art students create a 3 foot square panel which we submitted to the International Fiber Collaborative project that I have previously blogged about. This year I had children from several grades create leaves for the new Tree Project that Jennifer Marsh is coordinating in Alabama. I am going to choose one leaf and make it up to submit in our school’s name once again. The kids really had a fun time making the leaves, plus it is a great opportunity for them to participate in the art community at large. The tree display that I created to show off all of the leaves they created is so striking in person. It is located at the top of a stairwell and this photo does not do justice to the amazing pop of color that greets your eye as you round the mid level.
